Diatomaceous Earth Filter
Liquid is filtered through a bed of diatomaceous earth (kieselguhr) or similar powder supported on a stack of horizontal mesh screens. Blockage is avoided by continual dosing of powder and clarity may be adjusted by varying the powder grade, dose rate, and filtering rate.
A special isolated screen allows filtration of most of the residual liquid, minimizing losses, and there is an option for inert gas blanketing to reduce oxygen pickup.
Available in a wide range of sizes from 2 square metre upwards, with manual or automatic cake discharge.
Models are available for filtration of non-viscous liquids such as wine, beer, or more viscous products like oils.
